Affiliate disclosure
Last updated: October 19, 2026
The Silky Edit is an independent beauty publication. To keep it funded, the site may use affiliate links: when a reader clicks a designated link and buys something, the retailer may pay the site a small commission. The reader pays the same price either way.
Where disclosure appears
Any assessment page that can carry affiliate links carries a visible disclosure directly under "The picks" heading, on the same screen as the links themselves — not buried in the footer, and not hidden behind a click. Pages without picks (guides and explainers) carry no commercial links and no disclosure line, because there is nothing to disclose.
How outbound links work
Outbound commercial links on this site route through an internal
redirect page (found at /go), which shows a short
notice before continuing to the retailer. Affiliate-designated links
are also marked rel="nofollow sponsored" for search
engines — that marking is a technical convention and is not a
substitute for the visible disclosure described above.
What never happens
- No paid coverage: brands cannot buy assessments, placements, or wording changes.
- No fee for inclusion: a product earns a pick slot by the same label-and-evidence standard whether or not a program exists.
- No invented data: commissions never justify claims, ratings, or prices the desk can't source.
- No coupon posts: the desk publishes assessments and guides, not promotions.
The full mechanics
Selection standards and sourcing rules live in How we edit. Questions about any specific link: write to the desk.
